stage one of my day – work was crap X 2
i haven’t produced any legitimate product since my onslaught of online interview vidz. as a side note, i don’t have a camera to work with anymore as it is and rather question the state of my employment at this tiny company. between you and me, i rather enjoy the work i do. i can’t expect that i would find a better place to pay the bills, but at the end of the day… i just hate work in general. i think a lot of us hate work, but i’m not sold on the idea of doing it forever.

i’ve discovered that i have a rather odd personality when it coems to creating and being imaginative. i can come up with and complete ideas on a very small scheme. but after doing it once, i lose interest very quickly. “that can be done!” i tell myself after finishing a remarkable product, and then i have no interest in doing it a second time around. this encourages a certain creativity, but finds it’s curse in the lack of stability or consistency, or the ability to create a consistent product. whatever. i’m probably just doomed to never do anything ever again.

phase 2 – wednesday is prayer day.
i’m hoping to organize my thoughts and figure out if wednesday is a good day to pray about the rest of my life. i find myself discomforted in this little town i call home, what with the bills being so high, life being so boring and consistent, and there’s little room for adventure. i have enjoyed my season here in nashville, but i’m about to settle down and i’m only 21. that hurts my head and spirits. sure i’m entitled to a certain amount of responsibility and need to respect the relationships and obligations that i have here in nashville, but as each reason or duty slowly dwindles away, i find myself more and more intrigued with the idea of leaving.

it’s not because i hate this town or that i hate any of you, i think it’s simply because it is adventure and who cares if you die rich or if you live poor? the worst that can happen to me, and i fear it every now and then, that i will inevitably end up homeless because my student loan bills are in fact much too steep for the average person and i will never grow comfortable or satisfied with my pay because it will be eaten up by the sallie mae ogres either way. so rather than spending my hard earned life on paying bills to a company that cons people into going into debt, i figure let’s hit rock bottom worst case scenario. let’s be broke and homeless and just move on with it.

geez!

i’m sure i could put a part five and a part four but this would just take all day. i’m on my way to writing a book at this rate. besides, who cares to listen to an old man grumble. not i, no sir, not i.

as a side note – i meant to start writing this in a private blog, but seeing as that it has made its way into the love ewe blog, i’ll just leave it as is.

bam, bam, bam. so excited. can you believe it, a freakin’ festival at belmont university, for belmont students only. talk about cutting down the competition. now here’s a festy that we can enter and look good in. you all have to be there, and by you all, of course i mean the only two other people that pay attention to this blog and of course you would be there because you’re going to help make this movie.

anyway, point being is that there is a film festival on belmont’s campus started by a mr. austin sauerbrei. if you’re a belmont kid, just search for silent bear film and join the facebook group. there are prizes for best picture, funniest picture, and then also a web cam category which remains vague and unclear. more than likely it is a desperate attempt to get random people involved in an otherwise intimidating environment. but whatever the cause, oh em guh. we’re stoked. and guess what?… tonight’s a wednesday. that means it’s a writing party day!

even though last time we simply compiled a handful of ideas and produced nothing content-wise, this time we have a bit more of a reason. this weekend, regardless of content, we film. it may seriously be us following someone around with a camera for the day and simply filming their life. i’m convinced that’s entertaining. but hopefully we will have produced some ounce of worthy media in which to watch and submit.

also, i’m super interested in doing video blogs as a group simply to post and get people excited about our film troupe. so if i find a way how, expect the videos to come.

reason 4 – love ewe’s getting hired!
question 1 – is that an exaggeration?

haha, yes. it is. but as a side note, there’s business floating around. turns out not everybody owns a legitimate camera and a means to edit video footage, especially for online content. just saying… slowly but surely, as we continue to put ourselves out there a little bit here and there, we establish a subtle amount of credibility and sooner than later we can more than likely start getting paid to do a little bit of video work here and there. that includes but is not limited to…

live performances
interviews and testimonials
kinetic typography
short films
music videos
pictures of cats
corporate work
and event promotion.

basically these are all of the same things except you get filmed in different locations. is this important to talk about?… i’m not sure.

last but not least… ben, i like you was added to facebook a mere 23 days ago, and we are already about to go into production on our second little film. does anyone realize how great this is? all we need now is a facebook group and a silk screen t-shirt and we’re legit baby. sundance here we come!

so, i am at the office… it is like, midnight. and i am here making a post. i must say that i am more than excited.
i just finished editing down one of the lorien videos and it ain’t half bad.
tip for any beginners or curious parties, when filming your buddy’s band… please use three or more cameras. otherwise you’ll have to be creative in the most restrictive boring way possible. but either way, the video is done. once i figure out their passwords and servers and such i will make it available to all of your little faces.

oh!

also, i made a little logo thing at the front. i probably won’t stick with it, but considering we did the video for them i found it necessary to credit ourselves for a brief moment before the video plays. and so it’s there. for your liking. i wanted to get this stapling sound to work, and it didn’t. i’m new to after effects, but i would like to animate logos and get paid fat dollars for such efforts.

this is all crap. i don’t even know why i’m talking abotu any of this. i’m mostly just waiting for the lorien video to process on facebook so i can see its quality.
part 3!

this weekend is the beginning of our next short film. we backed out of one plan, created another, and now we may be on to a third. for anyone reading this (basically the ladies of love ewe) my brother’s birthday fiasco has been moved to april 4th so i’m in town and available. regardless of where we film… new short film should be up and ready by next weekend if we stick to our guns. who really knows. i promise you we’ll film… the editing i can’t promise. it would be nice if i could. but considering we have no idea what we’re even trying to do yet… no promises.

i think this picture is so funny to me because it had the title “23_bloody_hands_inside_a_church” i can only wonder what this was supposed to be about.

for those of you who have no idea what i’m talking about… i’ve been battling compression quality and frame sizes like there was no tomorrow. my software kept trying to convince me that 720 x 480 has a 16:9 ratio, which in very much in fact doesn’t. i also came across a codec setting in which the aspect is set to square pixels (1:1) opposed to a ratio of pixels (16:9) which even i’m not 100% aware of what that means.

basically, there’s no way for me to explain the stress and frustration that i’ve gone through in order to make my videos look clean on the internet, and i am (oh my goodness) so ecstatic to say that for the most part i have mastered the art of compression to the best of my abilities, to a point that is satisfactory and doesn’t make my videos look like somebody spilled a glass of water on them before i posted them.

so, all this to say, i finished my kinetic typography video, added an animated logo at the end, and posted it to it’s cleanest of all clean settings and i am so freaking happy to share it with everyone… i wish you could understand the extent of my joy right now.

on an even further less related note, i have been experimenting with my adobe production suite lately and have come across an interesting skill. i hope to continue the creation of these little monsters in my spare time as they take less than two minutes to create. so… without further ado –

part 2 – death of to the tinman.
a lovely little short presented to myself from one of the other lovely ladies. i must say that i enjoyed the film. the story is somewhat unique, not unheard of, but the compilation of different ideas mixed with the hopelessness and absence of love… i won’t pretned to be a movie critic, only a movie enthusiast. so i’m passing the buck here. you’re homework gang is to watch “death to the tinman” and let us know what you think.

also, to those of you interested in being a part of love ewe films, whether it be writing, acting, writing music, supervising music, playing music and then having us record you live… whatever it may be, please stay in touch with us. the more involvement and interaction we have, the more serious we know you are, and the more likely we are to work other things into our schedule.
